Watchdog for servers

IT-responsible Carsten Lausen, HOH Water Technology A/S is a test customer on the server surveillance system, In´Sync, and he is very enthusiastic: “It is simple and userfriendly, very effective – and it saves me and the company for a lot of precious time”

As It-responsible in HOH Water Technology, Casten Lausens job is to keep an eye on the servers of the company. It is not the simplest task as they are located three different places in Denmark, as well as Sweden, Norway and Finland.

”My solution was to assign two hours every Friday morning to go through all the servers. I rarely got through them all and it was very ineffective because consequently a server could be down for six days before I noticed.” Casten Lausen explains.

He discovered that something was wrong when a college from another department for instance called him and asked if something was wrong with the mail server because he hadn’t been able to send or receive mails the last couple of hours.

Avanced systems

Casten Lausten and his colleges went searching for an appropriate server surveillance system.

"“We search after shareware and freeware on the net, but nothing fit our requirements. And those that did was to complicated. We has a few consultants visiting form some of the large companies in the software business. We had a few long talks and a two test programs installed, but the systems were so advanced that an employee had to get additional education just to adjust and maintain them. Besides they were insanely expensive. They were not designed for a company our size.”

Then Carsten Lausen came in contact with NineWaves and René Nygaard.

"”I explained my problem to him and his reply was: ‘I’m sure we can solve it!’ It was very important for us that the system was simple and user-friendly – I imagined something with a black screen and some green dots, which go red when there are problems with one of the servers.” Casten Laursen explains and continues:

"”The solution NineWaves came up with was both surprising simple and at the same time a lot more in debt then I had imagined. Now I have as map on my screen and if one of the green dots in east Jutland turns yellow, I know that one of hour servers in Taulov is in danger of being overloaded. Actually it is so simple that I could teach my seven year old daughter to keep an eye on the system!”"

Huge marked

Carsten Lausen explains that he can set up the system so it warns him before something goes wrong, and not just when the server is already down. That means that he or one of his colleges has time to interfere before a problem is allowed to hinder the rest of the employees of i HOH Water Technology in working.

"”In’Sync is a great product, and I’m convinced that here is a huge marked worldwide for a simple surveillance system for servers in small and medium sized companies. A program with the right price – that doesn’t require a lot of additional education to use.” Casten Lausen points out and continues:

"”Speaking for my self, the program calms my stomach. The time when I used two hours on Fridays, without getting through all the servers anyway, is over. Now I only have to glance at the screen when a pass it. And had I not become a test customer, had I bought the system anyway without hesitation. It is definitely worth the price - and completely unique on the marked at the moment."
